Pepperwood Grove Syrah

March 30th, 2006

2002 Pepperwood Grove SyrahWOW, what a wonderful wine

I probably need another disclaimer for this review, as I am unexperienced to Syrahs. In my life I cannot, with 100% accurracy, recall if I have ever had a Syrah. I have tried many different wines, but it has only been recent that I have taken note, here at CorkReview.com . So, with this post I declare myslef as a Syrah virgin. Drumroll please…..

Knowing my affection for Pepperwood Grove’s Cabernet Sauvignon, I should have properly prepared my mouth for the fun it was going to have. This wine is great, a good wine to begin your journey into the world of red wines.

2002 Pepperwood Grove SyrahA very light, juicy smell. No hint of oak whatsoever in the smell, almost to decieve you into thinking this is a sweet wine. The inital taste is exactly as the label says, a mixture of plum and cherry. The finish is nice and spicey, which percisely rounds off the juicy flavors, making for a very smooth wine.

Ummm Ummm good. This is an exciting wine. Complex, yet “Simple and True”. It’s an inside joke within my family to call a wine “Simple and True”. I believe the story is that my Dad encountered some weird wine snob at a winery out west, who had several meaningless terms to describe a wine. Anyway, [...]...

I’ve always grown up in a family that drinks varied types of wines during the holidays, so I can always look forward to something interesting when celebrating. I remember my first glass of Pepperwood back in 2004, thinking [...]...

    • Pepperwood Grove Pinot Noir 2004
Smooth drinkin. This was a good Pinot Noir and the first Australian Pinot that I have tried also. Of course, any wine with Australia stamped on the front of it seems incapable of dissapointment. At $5.99, it is a steal (but don’t raise prices please). Pinot Noir is a very versatile wine, nothing really comes [...]...
