Grayson Cellars Merlot 2004

July 30th, 2006

Grayson Cellars Merlot 2004Went to the Corner Wine Bar today and had some wine. Kinda cool setup where you can order a “wine sampler” and try several different wines that the bar sells. I don’t recommend going there on a ninety degree day though because it ruins the whole experience trying to ejoy a Cabernet while sweating your ass off.

This Grayson Cellars Merlot has zesty full berry aromas that finish quickly. The textures are well-balanced but short-lived. High acidity with soft tannin highlights created hints of tea-like flavors and a bitter cranberry after taste.

All I had were crackers with this Merlot but I would suggest pork, dark grilled fish, or spaghetti with meatballs. Stay out of the heat though, it could possibly ruin your wine.

I was really excited to try this wine because I have heard great things. I thought the price was a little much, but in the name of science, I was willing to give it a try. The color is a dark ruby and the legs were consistant with a 13.5% ALC Merlot. The aromas are [...]...

Decent Merlot, Maybe. I don’t know enough about merlots to be a good judge of character, but this is an ok selection for the novise Merlot drinker. At $6.99, the nose was pretty bold with hints of plum, black cherry, and oak. The taste was light on flavor that was short-lived, followed by subtle tannin. [...]...

A suprisingly good wine. I was recommended to try this wine by a fellow wine lover, who isn’t too keen on most Cabernets he’s tried. His reason for not liking Cabernet Sauvignon so much is from the many ones that seem to have overly bold tannins without offering much more. With this in mind I [...]...

I know I have said in the past that I dislike Merlots but after drinking this wine I really have to reconsider. I had some lasagna while tasting this wine and I don’t think I could have found a better match. I could definately pick up on the blackberry and plum aromas described on the [...]...

Oh no, Pinot! I’ll start off this review with a disclaimer, I am unfamiliar with Pinots. I’ve had, perhaps, three bottles in my lifetime so this may be the start of my taste buds adjusting to what Pinot Noir can offer. For now, though, I am not very impressed. I decided to give the Talus [...]...
